In the past, judges and attorneys seeking remedy for both policyholders and
insurers have learned that Umpires or Appraisers were not as easy to find as
they first thought, as is true in a number of Counties in California. There hasn’t
been a shortage of claims requiring resolutions. The Apprasial or Umpire claim
resolution process was facilitated by only a few commited claims professionals,
many known only by word of mouth.
Our experience is primarily through the Insurance industry. The service is
codified to a degree as in the Windstorm Insurance Network, so the method
and formula is consistent with usual and customary practices in all settlement
negotiations that take place in the field, in arbitration, mediation, or in mandatory
settlement conferences. Historically, cases worked as Appraisers result in
the cases settling without an Umpire. And where it didn’t, clearly the Umpire
was vital ti its successful resolution or the path it takes. Seasoned personnel
understand positions being presented, respect contentious and meritorious
issues already developed by both sides to the forum. The process works toward
fair resolutions.
Our service area since 1990 has been in Southern and Central California,
including the coastal communities. Since 2002, service has called to other
states including Southern (Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Texas), Midwest,
and New England States. Please feel free to refer representatives to our office
to discuss services. Requests for service are considered once preliminary information
is considered on each case.
