While the Pennsylvania Department of Insurance monitors insurers, umpires are not typically licensed in any state. While exact umpire licensing is not required by Pennsylvania, most umpires hold professional certificates and credentials. For example, if the umpire is also an independent public insurance adjuster, then he has met Pennsylvania's licensing requirements for insurance agents and adjusters for his profession. Similarly, insurance attorneys must keep up their law licenses.
