Elected to the Circuit Court without opposition in 1982, Judge J. Leonard Fleet
was re-elected three times without challenge, serving in the Criminal, General
Civil and Family Divisions of the 17th Judicial Circuit.
During his 23 years as a trial attorney, Judge Fleet’s work centered upon the
fields of criminal law, civil rights litigation and appellate matters. Several of his
cases resulted in major changes in Florida law, some drawing national attention.
